# Perplexity Search API Pricing Clarity

In the search api, are multi-query request charged as 1 request ($0.005), or the multiplication of queries in the request?

For the Search API a multi-query request is charged as one request ($0.005). We’ve also updated our [docs](https://docs.perplexity.ai/docs/getting-started/pricing#search-api-pricing) to clarify this.

Following this thread because we had the exact same question!

As a startup building localized tax calculators and corporate compliance tools (we recently launched our portal for the South Asian market at **secp portal for company registration** , managing our search API costs is a huge priority.

Our compliance bots make heavy use of batched multi-query requests to pull changing tax regulations, so knowing whether it’s billed per request or per query entirely changes our cost forecasting.

Did you ever get a definitive answer from the Perplexity team on this? Would love to know before we scale our API usage!
