# The Perplexity sonar-deep-research model is repeatedly staying in IN\_PROGRESS and timing out

#### Hi everyone,

I’m facing an issue with the **sonar-deep-research** model when using async chat completions.

Whenever I submit a job, it stays in **IN\_PROGRESS** status across multiple polling attempts and eventually triggers a **TIME\_OUT** error. This has been happening continuously since yesterday and is still occurring today.

**What’s happening:**

- Jobs never transition to a final completed state when checked via the polling endpoint.

- After many attempts, the request ultimately times out without returning a result.

I wanted to check if there’s any update regarding this issue or a recommended workaround? Has anyone else seen similar behavior?
