How to register my MCP server for Perplexity to use?

Hi there,

I have an email MCP server that I would like Perplexity to use. I’ve read through the public documentation and there is mention of Perplexity offering or being an MCP that other apps can consume, but I didn’t see anything about registering an MCP with Perplexity.

Is there a way to register MCPs with Perplexity via REST API, SDK, or marketplace?

Thanks!

Hey @Aubrey ! Thanks for reaching out - could you share a bit more context about what you’re hoping to do with your email MCP?

If you mean whether Perplexity itself exposes an MCP that you can plug into your own app, then yes — we provide a local MCP that lets you interface with our models and tools (Sonar and Search) through the protocol. You can check out the repo here: GitHub - perplexityai/modelcontextprotocol: The official MCP server implementation for the Perplexity API Platform

If you mean adding your own MCP so it shows up inside the Perplexity app/website, you’ll want this guide on local and remote MCPs we support: https://www.perplexity.ai/help-center/en/articles/11502712-local-and-remote-mcps-for-perplexity
