Hello Perplexity Team & Community,
My name is Mohamad Al-Zawahreh. Just a week ago, I was released from incarceration after nearly six years cut off from modern technology. In 2019, AI tools like Perplexity were little more than rumors. Now, less than a week on the outside, I’ve taken to Perplexity “like a fish to water.” I’m already using it in ways that are transforming my life and the lives of people around me.
I’m a neurodivergent adult with Asperger’s and ADHD, recently enrolled in Supply Chain and Logistics at Canadian All Care College, Toronto. In under seven days, Perplexity has helped me:
• List and apply for dozens of scholarships.
• Track student loans and organize job search materials.
• Plan a 5-year career path.
• Navigate disability accommodations.
All of this happened through chat with Perplexity, despite my time away from tech.
A Success Story: HempCoat and Transforming the Family Business
Perhaps my favorite experience so far: My older brother, a drywall company owner, introduced me to “Hempcrete”—a sustainable building material. Inspired by his work and motivated by my research with Perplexity, I discovered “HempCoat,” a hemp-based drywall mud that:
• Is carbon-negative,
• Requires no tape (eliminating extra labor),
• Is compatible with existing crews and tools,
• Offers superior insulation and mold resistance,
• Is healthier than traditional products.
Using Perplexity, I vetted HempCoat, contacted the inventors, and helped secure exclusive Canadian distribution for my brother’s business. He’s now testing it with hopes of leading real industry change.
Why This Matters
The Canadian government, under PM Mark Carney, just launched a massive “Build Canada Homes” initiative to double annual home construction, cut housing costs, and support innovative building technologies. Products like HempCoat are exactly what these partnerships seek, and Perplexity’s research tools helped us get in early.
