UI flow in the perplexity app

Currently, pressing Enter in the chat input box immediately sends the message. This makes it very difficult to compose multi-paragraph prompts or paste content — such as a word, a quote, or a news excerpt — on a separate line for context or verification, without accidentally sending an incomplete message.

Many users, myself included, often need to:

Write structured, multi-paragraph prompts

Paste a piece of text (a word, a sentence, a news snippet) on its own line before adding a question about it

Review and edit their message before sending

A simple improvement would be to offer one of the following options:

Let Enter insert a new line by default, and use Shift+Enter (or a dedicated Send button click) to send

Add a toggle in Settings to let users choose their preferred behavior (Enter to send vs. Enter for new line)

This is a standard feature in many productivity and writing tools, and would significantly improve the experience for users who write longer, more thoughtful prompts.

Thank you for considering this.
