A conceptual artifact that illustrates a validation layer separating generative AI outputs from authoritative patent data to prevent hallucinated citations

I put together a simple artifact to make a recurring failure mode explicit: generative AI is good at synthesis, but unreliable at asserting patent existence without grounding.

This visual introduces a “Patent Reality Layer” — a conceptual boundary that separates generation from verification and forces validation against authoritative patent registries before outputs are trusted.

It’s vendor-agnostic and intended as a design pattern for teams building AI-assisted patent research, IP workflows, or search products where auditability matters.
