Clipboard screenshot paste shows upgrade prompt

I’m a Pro subscriber. When I copy a screenshot to my clipboard and paste it into Perplexity, it shows an upgrade prompt instead of accepting the image.
This is not a file upload issue. I am pasting a screenshot directly from the clipboard into the chat box.

Repro steps:

  1. Take a screenshot.

  2. Copy it to the clipboard.

  3. Open Perplexity.

  4. Click in the chat box.

  5. Paste the screenshot.

  6. The upgrade prompt appears instead of the image being accepted.

Expected behavior:
The pasted screenshot should be accepted normally.

Actual behavior:
Perplexity shows an upgrade prompt instead of inserting the screenshot.

Not sure why nobody responded. But pasting an image into the Prompt box is, actually, a file upload. When you do that, Perplexity does create and store an image file, just like when you use File Upload to upload an image file. You can even download it again, etc.

That being said, you getting the Upgrade message suggests that you are either at your file upload limit, or the Perplexity client doesn’t see you as logged in… I hope you figure it out!
