Description:
After Perplexity migrated “Shortcuts” to “Skills”, the / autocomplete in the Comet browser sidecar no longer works as expected.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open any YouTube video in Comet browser
- Open the Comet sidecar (side panel)
- Click on the query input field
- Type
/or start typing/video...
Expected behavior:
A dropdown list of saved Skills appears with autocomplete suggestions, allowing the user to select a skill (e.g. /video-techniques) without typing the full name.
Actual behavior:
No dropdown appears. No autocomplete suggestions. The only way to trigger a Skill is to type the full exact name manually — which defeats the purpose of the feature, especially since users can’t remember exact names after the migration.
Additional context:
- I have 11 Skills saved (visible at perplexity.ai/account/shortcuts):
/top-10,/top-15,/video-techniques,/community-deepdive,/trend-tracker,/ai-research,/tech-digest,/reddit-hot,/hn-daily,/fact-checker,/teach-me-comet - Skills themselves work correctly when triggered with the full exact name
- This issue appeared after the Shortcuts → Skills migration
- The banner at perplexity.ai/account/shortcuts confirms the migration happened but autocomplete was not preserved
